Is Your Skin Ready for a Seasonal Change?
Your skin changes, and your skincare should be able to change with it.
One of the things I tell my clients all the time is that your skin is always changing. What your skin needed six months ago may not be what it needs today. Weather changes. Stress changes. Our environment changes. As our skin matures, its needs can change too.
That's why I never believe in putting someone's skincare routine on autopilot.
As we move into cooler weather, this is a great time to look at your skin again and ask a simple question: what does my skin need right now?
Pay Attention to What Your Skin Is Telling You
You may notice that your skin suddenly feels tighter after cleansing. Maybe your moisturizer that worked beautifully all summer isn't quite enough anymore. You may see more dryness, less radiance, or find that fine lines seem a little more noticeable.
That doesn't mean something is wrong with your skin. And it doesn't automatically mean you need to go out and buy an entirely new skincare routine. Sometimes we simply need to make a few thoughtful adjustments.
This is something I do constantly in the treatment room. I look at the skin that's in front of me that day. I don't assume that because something worked at your last visit, it's automatically what your skin needs today. I believe your home care should be approached the same way.
Sometimes the First Change Is the Simplest One
When skin starts feeling dry or tight, one of the first things I look at is the cleanser. During cooler months, I often prefer something that cleanses thoroughly without leaving the skin feeling stripped.
One option I love is Lira Clinical MYSTIQ iLuminating Cleanser, a creamy cleanser formulated with ingredients including Mastiha, vitamins C and E, olive oil, and botanical ingredients to cleanse while supporting hydration and comfort.
Sometimes a small change like adjusting your cleanser can make a noticeable difference in how your skin feels.
Where PDRN Fits Into My Approach
Another ingredient I'm especially excited about for the skin I work with is PDRN. But I don't recommend PDRN simply because it's popular right now. I'm interested in what a formula can actually offer the skin.
The Lira Clinical REGEN PDRN+ Serum combines PDRN with Copper Tripeptide 1, Wild Salmon Stem Cell Conditioned Media, and additional peptides. Lira Clinical developed the formula to support skin repair, hydration, firmness, elasticity, and visible brightening.
For skin that is beginning to feel drier, less resilient, or simply not as vibrant as it once did, those are exactly the kinds of things I'm thinking about when I build a regimen. Not just, "What can I put on this fine line?" I'm looking at the skin as a whole. How is the hydration? How does the barrier feel? Is the skin looking dull? Does it need more support? What are we trying to accomplish long term?
That's how I choose products.
Why I Like the REGEN Serum + Crème Together
For some skin, I like pairing the REGEN PDRN+ Serum with the REGEN PDRN+ Crème. The serum gives us our concentrated regenerative step, while the crème adds hydration and helps support skin that feels dry, depleted, or lacking elasticity.
But that doesn't mean every person needs to use the crème in exactly the same way. Someone whose skin is becoming noticeably drier may appreciate the additional hydration morning and evening. Someone else's skin may feel comfortable with a lighter approach during the day and the crème at night.
That's where customization comes in. The product has to fit the skin, not the other way around.
What Could a Cooler Weather Routine Look Like?
For skin beginning to feel drier or in need of additional support as the weather changes, I might keep the routine beautifully simple.
Morning: MYSTIQ iLuminating Cleanser, REGEN PDRN+ Serum, REGEN PDRN+ Crème (especially when skin is feeling drier, depleted, or in need of additional hydration), SPF.
Evening: MYSTIQ iLuminating Cleanser, REGEN PDRN+ Serum, REGEN PDRN+ Crème.
Not every complexion needs the same amount of moisture. Someone experiencing more dryness may benefit from that added layer of hydration morning and evening, while another person's skin may need a lighter approach during the day. This is why I adjust a regimen based on how your skin is responding, rather than simply following the same steps year round.
For skin needing even more moisture, MYSTIQ iLuminating Beauty Oil is another option I may incorporate. It can be used alone or added to a hydrator to customize the level of moisture.
Again, this isn't meant to be everyone's winter routine. It's an example of how I might begin adjusting a regimen as someone's skin changes.
You Don't Always Need More. You Need What Your Skin Needs Now.
This is probably the most important thing I want you to take away from this.
Skincare isn't about collecting products. And it's certainly not about using something because everyone on social media is talking about it. It's about understanding your skin.
After twenty years of working with skin, I still approach every face with the same question. What does this skin need today?
Sometimes we add something. Sometimes we take something away. Sometimes we simply adjust how often you use what you already own. That's the beauty of customized skincare.
Your skin journey isn't supposed to stay exactly the same. It changes as you do, and that's exactly why I don't believe in guessing when it comes to your routine.
If you're noticing any of what I described here, tightness after cleansing, dullness, a moisturizer that suddenly feels like it's not doing enough, that's worth a real conversation, not another guess at the store shelf.
Come see me for a consultation and I'll look at your skin the way I described above, as it is today, not as it was six months ago. Book online at normalouise.com, or follow along at @normalouiseskin for more of what I'm seeing in the treatment room week to week.
Your skin journey starts here. ✨ Norma
